Community expresses preference for PRCAC representatives

The voting in the straw poll to choose two candidates for open positions on the Point Roberts Community Advisory Committee closed today at 5 p.m. The two top vote totals were amassed by Katherine Smith and Grant Heitman at 58 and 13 votes, respectively. Their names will be forwarded to county executive Satpal Sidhu who has the authority to make the appointments.
Other candidates running were Pat Harn, Pat Harper, Tom O’Brien and Bill Zidel.

Smith is a wildlife biologist who described herself as “very much infatuated with Point Roberts.” Heitman is an attorney working on land issues who had previously stood for a position on PRCAC in 2019.
