Send your books to the clink

While the Friends of the Point Roberts Library are not accepting donations of used books until the completion of the new library this summer, the county library system is looking for specific book donations for their program at Whatcom County Jail.

Local librarian Rose Momsen said they are looking for books on Buddhism, astrology, or dream interpretation; books about gangs, cartels or crime; Lemony Snicket’s “Series of Unfortunate Events,” Conn Iggulden’s “Conqueror” series, and books by Mario Puzo.

Momsen asked that community members hang on to any other books and not bring them in as donations. “I just don’t have room to store anything else,” she said, thanking prospective donors for their patience.

The Jail Library Service is a cooperative agreement between county library system and the Whatcom County Jail. The jail provides the work space for the library inside their facility, as well as funds for books and other library materials. The library system provides the staff to visit the jail once a week.
