This year marked a pivotal period of progress and stability for our water and sewer utility. We successfully solidified our new management team, bringing fresh expertise and leadership that has already demonstrated its value in guiding our operations and strategic initiatives.
On the infrastructure front, we accomplished significant improvements. We replaced 25 aging fire hydrants, enhancing public safety and system reliability. When customers raised water-quality and color concerns, we responded with extensive water main flushing using modified techniques and strategies that produced excellent results with outstanding water quality. We also secured state loan and partial grant funding for small water main replacement projects, continuing our systematic infrastructure renewal.
Our wastewater treatment achievements were equally impressive. We rehabilitated the wastewater treatment plant digester aeration system and installed new mixers with grant funding for enhanced nutrient removal, improving treatment efficiency and environmental performance. At Lift Station 10 on Blaine Road, we replaced aging mechanical components, preventing potential failures. We also continued our ongoing efforts to reduce rain inflow and infiltration within the sewer collection system, protecting treatment capacity and reducing operational costs.
A recent achievement was the approval of the 2026 budget, which maintains affordable rates while ensuring continued reliable service. We secured new financing and grant funding for an upcoming scheduled capital project, demonstrating our ability to leverage resources effectively.
Looking forward, we have developed a nearly $30 million capital plan over the next 10 years. Our planning approach remains methodical and pragmatic to serve the growing
community.
Regarding regional discussions about incorporation or annexation, we maintain a neutral posture – our focus remains on what we do best: providing exceptional water and sewer services to our community with excellence and dedication.
