The Apple Harvest Festival is on Point Roberts’ fall events roster yet again, and is shaping up to be a fun apple-themed weekend. This year, the festival takes place Oct. 3 and 4 and will feature familiar traditions.
While the longstanding festival has served as a fundraiser for Point Roberts Circle of Care in the past, Annelle Norman, longtime organizer of the festival, is hoping to return the weekend's activities to the community through the involvement of other organizations.
“My hope is that the Apple Harvest Festival will become more truly community-owned, not an event that someone puts on for Point Roberts, but something we create together,” Norman said. “It can change. It can acquire new traditions and lose a few old ones. That's probably healthy.”
Norman has been in the process of “encouraging other Point Roberts organizations and individuals to take ownership of different pieces of the weekend.”
This year, the Apple Harvest Festival is expected to follow the usual schedule of events with apple pressing at the community center, an all-things-apple bake sale, bingo for both children and adults, music and dancing, and a miniature art auction featuring tiny works of art no larger than 5 by 7 inches.
Kids bingo will be hosted on the evening of Oct. 3 by the Point Roberts Eagles Club and will serve as a fundraiser for the club. Adult bingo on Oct. 3 will be run by Point Roberts Circle of Care.
Circle of Care will also be selling apple pies both at the bake sale and as preorders the week before the event. More information will be released in the ePB and Point ePost closer to the event regarding preorders, but inquiries can also be directed to prcocpies@gmail.com.
Norman emphasized the community building that takes place year after year at the festival, saying, “At heart, it has always been about bringing people together. Apples just give us the excuse.
“What I would hate to see it lose is the easy, slightly quirky, neighborly spirit that has made it worth doing all these years.”
There are many ways for businesses and organizations to get involved. Organizations may inquire as to taking over a certain aspect of the festival, but there are also smaller ways to get involved in the festival. Norman suggested, “perhaps they'd like to donate bingo prizes, or have a face painting booth for the kids, or serve hotdogs/burgers to the apple pressers.” Volunteer jobs cover a range, but help with set-up and tear-down is always needed as well as help with individual weekend activities.
Contact prcircleofcare@gmail.com if you or your organization is interested in getting involved in the 2026 festival or future festivals.
