The Point Roberts Animal Wellbeing Society (PAWS) is looking for boaters who would like to be added to a list of people who could transport injured wildlife to Blaine via boat.
Injured wildlife cannot be transported over the border into Canada, so boats are the best way to bring injured animals to Whatcom County Humane Society’s wildlife treatment center for medical care.
When injured wildlife is found in Point Roberts, Chief Carleton and the firefighters capture and hold the animals, but without a ride, there is nothing that can be done to help the animals on the Point.
The humane society can meet a boat from Point Roberts in Blaine to complete the last leg of the journey.
If you want to be added to the list of boaters willing to transport wildlife to Blaine, please contact Mary Edgley at medgleym@gmail.com.
