The burn ban in Point Roberts has officially been lifted. All burn types are now allowed including recreational, residential and land clearing. Permits are required for all burning on the Point. Permits can be obtained at the fire hall (2030 Benson Road).
Burning trash, roofing, dimensional lumber, construction materials or building materials is not allowed. Only natural vegetation, charcoal and propane fires are permitted.
Chief Carleton urges the community to remember to “Use extreme caution! Vegetation is still recovering from the long stretch of dry weather and is susceptible to fire spread.”
Violations of burn restrictions can result in a minimum $250 fine, financial responsibility for suppression costs as well as criminal charges for reckless burning.
