Church News: March

Posted

Once a month at Trinity Lutheran Community Church, a member or friend offers to share their thoughts. Folks reflect on being Christian, being religious, or sometimes simply on the reason they come to church.

Recently, one person said this:

“Sunday is the day we set aside to be ‘in community’ and to nourish our spirituality. A day to reflect on the week that has ended and anticipate the week that will be. A time where traditions ground us, comfort us and allow us to move forward with confidence.

We all approach this day in our own way.  We come together to celebrate the word. It doesn't matter how you started your journey of believing, it matters that you are here today acknowledging your beliefs and taking the opportunity to learn something new.

That is why we have a diverse set of spiritual leaders here at Trinity, to offer a variety of ways to learn the word.

What being a Christian means to me is believing in a higher being no matter the name, God/Allah/Buddha/Divine Mother/Yahweh, and being kind to all things because everyone, everything, the good, the bad, the beautiful, the ugly, has a right to be here.

The word is sometimes confusing but when a spiritual leader explains the meaning behind the words, and we talk together, a whole new understanding comes before us.

And after all is said, we come together to share a meal, check in with each other, laugh, get inspired, feel supported and that is the essence of being ‘in community’.

Trinity welcomes everyone at 11 a.m. on Sundays. Parents, friends and ministers lead the Children’s Education in religion and music at 4 p.m. every Tuesday.
