GoFundMe account set up for fire chief's wife

Posted

Fire chief Christopher Carleton is asking for the community’s help in raising funds to help pay medical costs for his wife, Pamela. She was diagnosed with liver failure on September 22 and will need a liver transplant.

Transplants can cost upward of $950,000, not including pre- and post-transplant and continuing care. Typically, insurance fails to cover the entire bill.

Carleton put up an appeal on GoFundMe on October 21 asking to raise $20,000 for the recognized and unrecognized costs of the procedure. He wrote, “After serving others for 26 years as a firefighter/paramedic, I now find myself needing to ask for help from you. It took me 45 years to find the love of my life, and now we find ourselves in the battle for my wife's life just after five years of being together.”

As of the following afternoon, 269 people had donated $35,334. To contribute, go here
