Posted

A quick response from the local fire department to a reported house fire prevented a total loss of the residence and belongings. The house, located on the marina side of Harbor Seal Drive, was reported on fire at 3:12 p.m. on August 1; fire personnel were enroute one minute later and arrived at 3:17.

According to fire chief Christopher Carleton, there was a “working fire” on the second floor. “Crews advanced a hose line to the second floor and were met by heavy fire in the master bedroom area.” The fire was under control within 12 minutes.

Firefighters spent the next few hours in overhaul, investigation and salvage of personal items for the family. The scene was cleared at 10:18 p.m. The second floor of the home suffered extensive damage and is not habitable. No cause has yet been established by the fire marshal’s office.
