Hospital district hires new superintendent

Following a 30-minute executive session on January 8, Point Roberts hospital district commissioners approved a motion by chair Stephen Falk to hire Oliver Nouripour as district superintendent effective immediately. Nouripour replaces longtime superintendent Barbara Wayland who resigned as of the district’s regular meeting in December.
Wayland, who, prior to becoming superintendent, was herself a district commissioner, said that given recent health problems involving her husband Campbell McClusky, she would be unable to devote the attention needed to run the clinic. Addressing the board, Wayland said, "I would just like to say that I've enjoyed working with the commission all this time. ... I think we've done a lot of good things for this community, and I think you can all be proud of yourself.”
Nouripour owns and operates Tech on the Point which provides IT services to businesses and homes in Point Roberts. He will be paid $29 per hour and will be subject to a six-month probationary period.
In other district news, Stephen Falk was elected once again to serve as commission chair for 2025.
