Point Roberts residents and property owners can once again take advantage of free kayaks and paddleboards through the Point Roberts Park and Recreation District’s summer water recreation program.
Participants must complete a 2026 waiver and safety form and provide proof of residency or Point Roberts property ownership before using the equipment. Waivers can be completed online through the district’s website and must be renewed annually.
Kayaks are available at Lighthouse Park, while paddleboards and additional kayaks are at Maple Beach. Equipment is available on a first-come, first-served basis, with a two-hour usage limit.
Participants are required to wear a life jacket, use the buddy system, check weather and water conditions before heading out, and carry basic safety equipment such as a whistle. Paddlers are also encouraged to leave a float plan with family or friends and familiarize themselves with self-rescue techniques before going on the water.
