Search ends for missing man

A search for a missing man from Delta ended tragically with the discovery of his body approximately a half-mile from the border Saturday, November 4. David Ho, 86, went missing on November 2 during his customary walk at Diefenbaker Park. Ho suffered from memory loss and his family appealed for the public’s help in finding him.

He was seen on camera crossing into the U.S. near Monument Park and a search was mounted involving the Point Roberts fire department, Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. CBP, Whatcom County Search & Rescue, other authorities and volunteer searchers.

Up to 90 people in 20 teams scoured the the Point looking for the lost man. Cold weather and rain hampered the search. Volunteer searchers from Tsawwassen crossed the border to aid in the search. His body was found by a Point Roberts resident.

Fire chief Christopher Carleton organized a well-attended gathering on Sunday, November 5 at the fire hall for the man’s family and those people who participated in the search.
