"Go Solar and Save" is the new slogan of Resilient Point Roberts – Going Solar, an all-volunteer group of locals working together to attract affordable and accountable solar installations around the Point.
They launched the campaign at the International Marketplace on September 8 with Belle, the inflatable 25-foot pig, to attract attention and engage visitors.
“We spoke to over 50 people in a few hours on Sunday afternoon,” said Kara Smith, local resident and Resilient Point Roberts volunteer. “The high level of interest was very encouraging. People are starting to realize that you don’t need to make a big investment to see returns from solar.”
Look for Belle to make other feature appearances around town soon, and come meet her at SolarFest 2024 on Saturday, October 12 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Benson Road firehall.
SolarFest 2024 will feature solar games activities, info booths, presentations, plus a BBQ lunch, SUNdae making stand, and giveaways. All are welcome!
