Year in Review: Point Roberts Circle of Care

Posted

As the year comes to a close, Circle of Care celebrates another cycle of neighborly connection, care and quiet resilience here in Point Roberts.

Throughout 2025, our volunteers continued to offer companionship, rides, meals and wellness support to elders across the Point – responding to needs both spoken and silent, with empathy and reliability. Whether showing up with soup, sharing a story over tea, or simply offering a steady arm to lean on, the heart of our mission remains rooted in presence and kindness.

The Raven Community Shuttle, which is administered by our board of trustees, is now in its second year of service, offering rides to Bellingham every Tuesday and Thursday and providing local Point Roberts transportation on Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. We are thrilled with the steady ridership – our van is full most Tuesdays and Thursdays, showing just how valuable this service has become to our community. As we continue to grow, we are also looking to expand participation in our after-school program, and we welcome more students and families to take advantage of this safe, reliable transportation option.

We continued to collaborate with trusted partners – including FD5, Hospice, Northwest Regional Council on Aging, the Senior Center, WTA, and PR Parks and Recreation – weaving together local resources to serve our aging population more holistically.

In October, the Apple Harvest Festival once again lifted community spirits, showcasing music, food and generosity. Hundreds of residents and visitors brought bushels and bushels of apples and pressed them into hundreds of gallons of delicious Point Roberts apple juice. Bingo was back for the third year, and the community dining hall was transformed into a psychedelic hippy den for a dance party.

In collaboration with Circle of Care, the fabulous The Point Band provided four free fundraising concerts throughout the summer and fall for the community, raising funds for Salish Sea House, The Food Bank and Circle of Care.

As the holidays approach, our Angel Project is on track to serve more than 30 households, thanks to the remarkable support of International Marketplace. Their contributions, combined with donations from near and far, helped raise $3,500 to ensure our neighbors feel remembered, honored, and cared for this season.

None of this would be possible without the steady hands and open hearts of our trustees, volunteers and supporters. You show up – not for headlines, but for love. You remind us that community isn’t something we have – it’s something we create. We are so grateful for your energy and time gifted and your generous donations.

As we look to 2026, we do so with hope, and with deep gratitude for the circle that continues to grow around us.
