Circle of Care announces “our finest hour” fund

Posted

Thanks to the generosity of some of our Canadian cottage neighbors and Whidbey Telecom, Circle of Care has money to grant to Point Roberts residents who find themselves out of funds due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The money has been earmarked to assist residents with the costs of essential expenses while waiting for unemployment checks or due to loss of income for the many self-employed individuals. Examples of those sorts of needs might be repairing a pair of glasses, or covering the co-payment cost on a prescription, putting gas in the family vehicle in order to keep doctor or dentist appointments, or providing a small birthday gift for a child.

Requests for funds will be handled with complete confidentiality. If you are in need, please call 360/945-5222 and leave a message or send an email to prcircleofcare@gmail.com.

The fund was begun by a Crystal Water Beach homeowner, Gary Morrison, who recognized early on that the closure of the border to all non-essential travel would result in a lot of “hard times in PR,” as he put it. Gary put out a call to his friends and neighbors and over $500 was collected and shared between Circle of Care and the Food Bank. Most recently, Whidbey Telecom’s philanthropy committee reached out to Circle of Care and is donating $1,000 to the fund.

If you are feeling blessed and generous and would like to make a contribution, you can make your donation at Banner Bank or online at prcircleofcare.com.
