Tiny art show raises funds for local organizations

This Saturday up to 50 pieces of art, all smaller than 5 by 7 inches, will be on display and on sale at Auntie Pam’s Country Store.

The third annual Tiny Art Show starts at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 14 and features work by artists of all ages in a wide range of mediums: watercolor, photography, sculpture, quilting, oils and acrylics. “We’ve got some amazing pieces of art,” said storeowner Pamala Sheppard.

Some of the donated artwork comes from established artists from Point Roberts and Seattle, while some is the work of local kids. All the pieces will be sold by silent auction, with the bidding closing at 9 p.m. Proceeds of the auction will benefit Dollars for Scholars and the Arts and Music Festival.

“We’re going to have juice for adults and children and an organic chocolate tasting, as well as a selection of appetizers,” said Sheppard.

The store will also be hosting a Stella and Dot jewelry show that evening. “They feature all the cutting edge fashions in jewelry,” Sheppard said.

In the past two years the event has raised almost $1,000 that was donated to the library building fund. “This year we are doing the Every Sunny Sunday flea market for the library so we chose other charities for the auction,” Sheppard said.

The flea market started last weekend, drawing five vendors and a few dozen customers. Market organizers collect donations from vendors for the library building fund. “Everyone is welcome,” Sheppard said. “There are no restrictions to what you can sell.” The flea market will run every sunny Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
