An overheated engine caused a vehicle fire at the Peace Arch Border Crossing at approximately 1:20 p.m. on May 26.

The blaze has temporarily stopped traffic through the border. The Northern Light reporter Oliver Lazenby is at the scene, and says the fire has been extinguished and no one was injured.

The border crossing was reopened shortly after the fire was put out. Officials have closed off the lane the burned minivan is in and are rerouting traffic through the other lanes. Customs and Border Protection officials say there is currently an approximately 5 minute delay. Washington State Patrol will arrive at the scene shortly to remove the burned vehicle.

CBP officials say they believe the fire was caused by an overheated engine, but couldn't be more specific until a more thorough investigation could be made.
